Specifications
Check working capacity, not only the grain label
A model’s grain label is not enough to size it for a household. Ask for working capacity at the proposed regeneration setting, the measured hardness used in the calculation, and the expected demand. Simultaneous fixture use matters as well as daily consumption. Iron or sediment may change pretreatment requirements.
What this treatment does not replace
A conventional softener targets hardness. It should not be represented as a complete chemical-removal or disinfection system. Household water conditions and the actual installed equipment determine whether additional treatment is justified.
Prepare for an equipment assessment
Locate the incoming supply and identify space for the resin unit, salt storage, bypass, and service access. Drain routing and electrical requirements must be checked against the selected valve’s instructions. Clarify which outdoor or drinking-water lines should remain untreated before plumbing work begins.
Understand ongoing maintenance
